Miruna Cojanu (b. 1980, Bucharest) is a contemporary painter working primarily in oil on canvas. Based in Bucharest, she is known for her large-scale female portraiture set against vivid, graphic backgrounds, where reinterpretations of vintage carpet motifs blend tradition with contemporary visual language. Her work explores emotional complexity, femininity, and embodied presence, offering a luminous space where vulnerability becomes strength and softness holds power.

Her most recent solo exhibition, “Things Nobody Knows, the ones that know everything” (Kulterra Gallery, 2024), unfolded as a gallery-novel — a tapestry of insights expressed through twenty narrative works and five visual symphonies. The show reimagined mythical femininities and celebrated the unapologetic embrace of emotion, sensuality, and inner truth.

At MOBU International Art Fair (2025), Cojanu presented works that act as tender counterweights to chaos — bold in color, yet intimate in tone — offering viewers a moment of stillness, trust, and emotional coherence in a dissonant world.

In June 2023, her solo show “Between Yesterday and Tomorrow is LOVE. NOW I feel it” (Kulterra Gallery, Bucharest) marked a vibrant chapter in her artistic journey. With vivid palettes, pop-infused patterns, and subtle references to folk and arts & crafts traditions, the exhibition conveyed themes of optimism, love, and presence. This body of work reflected both personal evolution and a joyful exploration of emotional symbolism.

Her broader exhibition history includes “Bucarest Inspiration – Bleus de Nice” at Musée Massena, Nice (2023), “Nudes” at Vino Wines and More, Bucharest (2019), and “Open Studio” at Căderea Bastiliei, Bucharest (2018), alongside multiple group exhibitions and participations in contemporary art fairs. Across all projects, Miruna Cojanu’s practice remains rooted in emotional honesty and sensorial storytelling — a constant invitation to reconnect with self, softness, and the quiet power of color.
